Category 2 Rides in the Jindabyne Area

Jindabyne - Dead Horse Gap Return

A shorter version of the Tom Groggin epic in the Haute Category section, head out of Jindabyne on the Thredbo road and climb past Thredbo to Dead Horse Gap - Reward yourself with a coffee or ice cream in Thredbo before heading back to town.  It is mostly downhill but remember the climb over Ivo's Farm near Lake Crackenback.

Jindabyne - Charlotte Pass return

A great climb on an excellent road surface, wide and smooth roads make this climb a delight even though you gain almost 2000m.  The side trip on the Guthega road provides a bit more climbing and the opportunity to view more wildlife, but be warned the road turns to gravel before you reach Guthega.  Clicking on the map below provides an overview of both options.

Jindabyne, Rocky Plains, Berridale, Dalgety, Jindabyne

A shortened version of the Haute Category trip to Cooma this is achievable by riders of good fitness who may not ride fast but can keep going.  Beloka Hill on the road between Dalgety and the Station Resort is challenging so make sure you have a low gear.  (A compact crank is ideal!)

Jindabyne - Lake Eucumbene return

An excellent ride which provides relief from climbing mountains but provides enough challenge to make it a worthwhile training ride. Fewer cars and views of rolling farmland and the high mountains to the west provide a different perspective on riding in the Snowys.  For those looking to make it a bit easier - drive to the corner of Eucumbene  and Jindabyne Roads and park at the bus stop.  This is also a good option for those wanting to take younger riders out on the road.
